For various reasons including work and students, I’m really not comfortable posting detailed music practice and composition notes here, hence deletions. But there are also other reasons connected to why I don’t post my to-do lists online anymore for creative writing and academic projects. Those things are a legacy of our early days journaling online, part of a thing anyone in a journaling community understand as our own “thing”. It doesn’t really work well when you consider a wider audience. Plus, in these days of global pandemic-related brain fatigue, I don’t think performing productivity is a good look.
Surviving and keeping one’s spirits up is a challenge enough in these times, don’t you agree?
But, here’s what I’m working towards in 2021:
- Piano Grade 1 for Trinity College London exams. Next year, I’m definitely switching to ABRSM, though. I prefer their music lists and syllabus. However, since I’ve already practiced my TCL pieces this year many times, I’m taking the exams.
- Classical Guitar Grade 5 for Trinity College London exams. Sticking to TCL for this one because I prefer their music syllabus. There are some overlaps with ABRSM but with TCL I can theoretically play both Dowland AND Bach, whereas, because of the three lists system of ABRSM, I’d have to choose between Dowland and Bach. Upside, ABRSM actually has way more Dowland in their syllabus. Oh well.
- Music Theory for ABRSM is something I’m thinking about for 2022. Although, I’m wondering whether I should sit for Grade 1 or Grade 5. We’ll see.
That’s about all I’ll tell you about my music goals for 2021. The rest, well. If I pass, I’ll post here. Personally, I’m really anxious to finish up my grades because I’m already excited about CG Grade 6 and Piano Grade 2 (ABRSM) and know exactly what exam pieces I want to play.
