I realise that with my gradual exit from social media some of you might need some form of news or communication from me so I’ll just post a short update of things I’ve had published this year.
- January 2020: “Archipelagic Constellations” (poetry) in Kaleidotrope.
- April 2020: “When Hope is Lost, Touch Remains” (fiction) in Podcastle
- May 26 2020: “Butter Daughters” (flash fiction reprint) in Weird Dream Society (ebook/forthcoming)
Also forthcoming soon, is “A Long Tango Across A Canopy of Whispering Leaves”, in Giganotosaurus. I can’t tell you how pleased I am that my Yrejveree postcolonial portal fantasy featuring Malaysians in Yrejveree, a host of otherworldly beings, some sexy tango dancing and more homages than you can shake a stick at has been accepted!
Some main characters from Watermyth (my novel that I’m still querying) are also in this short story. So far, three short stories based in, or connected to this world have been accepted (two published).
Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy all of these works!
And yes, I am fine. I’m just finding the outside world really overwhelming right now and I have a lot of deadlines. Online teaching and supervision plus providing moral and emotional support to undergrads and postgrads is also my main priority these days. After that, I really don’t have energy for much else apart from practising/playing music and just resting my brain. As we all should, in these fraught, terrifying times.
